"Gethuk" the term which so familiar in Indonesian people’s ears, especially for Javanese people. Even in a lyric of song said "Gethuk Asale Seko Telo". This traditional food of course has not been strange for us, gethuk was so easy found im traditional market and in foods shops. The price which was relative cheap made many people like it, of course because it was delicious too.
As we knew that different areas have different types of gethuk, like ‘Gethuk Goreng from Sukaraja, ‘Gethuk Trio’ from Magelang, ‘Gethuk Lindri’ from Purworejo and etc. and now, we focused on gethuk from Purworejo there was Gethuk Lindri. For this gethuk usually served in the morning, and because the material of the gethuk was casava so it has height carbohidrate and it made us easy to satisfy.
Gethuk lindri can serve in various, there were brown, red, green, pink, white and etc. And all of the colours was came from the same material there was casava. Maybe this was make people interested to by it.
If you want to by it, you can go to traditional market of foods shops. But there some differences between both. Gethuk which sold in traditional market was still so simple, they use leaf wrapp. The gethuk not use preservative and the price was cheap. So different with gethuk in food shops. They has used good packing, the gethuk use preservative and the price of course more expensive. Although we’ll think that gethuk in food shops was more interesting in wrapping and more Durable, but the fact, both have same quality in teste.
And now up to you, you more like buy gethuk in traditional market or in foods shops. But it will be better if you make gethuk by yourself.
This, I have the way to make ‘Gethuk Lindri’:
Ingredients:
500 gr of casava
250 gr of sugar
200 gr of margarine
1 glass of treacly coconut milk which was boiled till toady
2 dinner spoon of chocolate powder
essences
How to make:
Steam the casava till tender, then grinded and pounded.
Mix sugar and other ingredients.
Divide it into two parts/portions. Give essence then printed it with "Marcato Biscuit".
After that, we make it in rows and piled up with each row in different colours.
Supposing that one colour can roll, then slice it.
Served gethuk by rasp coconut, which has given little salt.
I hope you will try this at home.
